Abstract

Choreography, like any kind of art, reflects the world in the form of an artistic image, the specificity being that the thoughts, feelings, moods of man are transmitted through movements, gestures or mimicry. Through the bodily movements of the dance, man can render both external and internal beauty (the spiritual side of art). These two sides, being correlated, interact and influence each other. The choreographer uses body language, projects it in time and space and proposes a discourse that allows communication in all three planes: emotional, ideational and spiritual. The present study proposes an incursion into the folk dances of the Oltenia region, Romania.
