MUSICAL ARCHETYPES IN BÉLA BARTÓK'S PROFANE CANTATA (AN ANALYSIS OF THE FIRST PART)
Keywords:
Béla Bartók, musical archetype, folklore, cantataAbstract
In the author's initial conception, the text of the cantata represents the first part of a trilogy, which would have been conceived on the folklore and fantasy world of the peoples of the Carpathian Basin. Through the basic idea, often formulated by Bartók, the creator wanted to reproduce the concept of the brotherhood of peoples. The work – seen as a link in his great message left – urges the need for mutual aid between Central Eastern European peoples. The profane cantata in the spirit of the "pure spring", mentioned in the text as an ideal, is a musically crystalline composition as well. Structurally, musical genre, Johann Sebastian Bach's cantatas are the models, but in the musical language you can discover the basic elements of the entire Bartókian work such as: the principle of axes, the law of the golden section (sectio aurea), the principle of symmetry, the acoustic modes.
