THE COMPOSER ION VIDU AT 160 YEARS SINCE HIS BIRTH. OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPAND MUSICOLOGICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH

Abstract

In recent years, the complex personality of the great Banat composer Ion Vidu has become a topic of interest for more and more researchers from Banat. This fact should not be surprising since Vidu's activity, although recorded over time in important Romanian musicological volumes, still has enough unknowns, of particular relevance for Romanian culture. More than this, as Banat researchers, we also have the moral obligation to further promote the personality of the composer, conductor, teacher, cultural host, folklore collector and, last but not least, the patriot Ion Vidu. The present study wishes to highlight possible opportunities for further research development on this topic.
