Abstract

The article proposes a brief presentation of the church music practiced in the Orthodox Romanian communities on the current territory of Hungary. Closely related to the musical genres practiced on the other side of the border, in the western part of Romania, the church music of the Romanians in Hungary still presents certain unique particularities, due, most likely, to the rather long period of communist regime in both countries, time in which the relations between the Romanians located on one side and the other of the border developed with difficulty. Conceived in the form of a musicological approach, the study presents the working methodology used in analyzing the musical material collected from the area, respectively the conclusions that can be drawn applying this methodology.
