The 19th century was the century in which all theological schools in the Romanian principalities began their activity. In the provinces of Transylvania and Banat, the city of Arad has a special place, especially since 1812 there has been a pedagogical and theological school called Preparandia. Until 1822, when the Theological Institute of Arad was founded, the clergy from the entire region were chosen from among the graduates of this pedagogical school, many of whom were students of the renowned pedagogues of the Arad Preparandia, including Constantin Diaconovici-Loga, Paul Iorgovici, Dimitrie Țichindeal and Ioan Mihuţ. The present study proposes a brief foray into the history of this prestigious institution.
