Abstract

The article analyzes the use of rhetorical figures in 19th-century Serbian church choral works, highlighting Western European influences and the relationship between sound expression and the religious message. Through an analysis of the works of Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac and Václav Horejšek, we can observe how music becomes a metaphor for suffering, compassion, and Christian hope.
