THE POEM OF THE NATION BY SABIN DRĂGOI

Abstract

The "Poem of the Nation" is one of the most extensive works for orchestra by the composer Sabin Drăgoi, written in the summer of 1936 at the request of the committee of the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest on the occasion of the unveiling of the great fresco by the painter Constantin Petrescu. At the suggestion of Constantin Kirițescu, general director of the Higher Education, Drăgoi was asked for a work that would compose a musical correspondence of the historical moments painted in the fresco.
